About the Artist - jörgen winberg

Based in Grödinge, Sweden

I am based in Sweden, my work explores the dualities of life through the landscapes and inhabitants of mainly Stockholm area. I am deeply drawn to interplay between the structured, historic urban environments of the city and the untamed, fluid beauty of the Stockholm archipelago. While architectural geometry and coastal light form the foundation of my landscape work, my practice extends into intimate portraiture of both humans and animals, seeking the quiet narratives hidden in their expressions. Primarily working in oil, I utilize textures and layered light to evoke a sense of place and presence. Periodically, I transition to the raw, monochromatic medium of charcoal. This deliberate shift strips away color, allowing me to explore form, shadow and emotion through a completely different tactile experience
